“The So Sew Show,” The Vestibule

The Vestibule invites submissions for the So Sew Show, February 2018.

Start with a needle and thread. Show us some art. Work must be sewn or sew in some interpretation of these terms.

This show is bound to be more than just so so. =)

We are open to and interested in site-specific and installation projects, unframed work, mixed media work, as long as it involves a needle and thread.

Artist must agree to be present for Ballard Night Out, Third-Thursday Art Walk, (February 15) and a show reception on February 3, 2018.

“Textile Landscapes,” Sulfur Studios Gallery

Savannah, GA:  January 17th – February 3rd, 2018

The organic, flowing nature of fiber materials, contrasted with highly structured techniques makes it an especially appropriate media in which to express natural forms of all scales. For this exhibitions artists are invited to submit work created with textile materials or techniques that references the natural world in any form, from the atomic and cellular level, through geographic and cosmological scales. Both traditional and experiment techniques and materials are welcome. Sculpture, installation and video based works will be considered in addition to 2-dimensional work and functional items.

“Fantastic Fibers 2018,” Yesler Arts Center

Paducah, KY:  April 14 – June 9, 2018

The Yeiser Art Center is happy to announce that the call for entry for 2018’s Fantastic Fibers exhibition is now open! One of YAC’s most engaging, innovative & colorful international exhibits, Fantastic Fibers is an inspirational “must see” for fine artists, quilters and textile art enthusiasts across the globe. The show began in 1987 as a wearable art show but has evolved over the years to include a compelling mix of traditional and non-traditional works created from natural or synthetic fibers, and work that addresses the subject or medium of fiber. The FANTASTIC FIBERS 2018 exhibit is an American Quilter’s Society (AQS) sanctioned event and selected works will be seen by thousands of viewers. Paducah becomes a Mecca for quilters and quilt enthusiasts each April, as more than 30,000 visitors from across the globe attend AQS QuiltWeek. This year’s AQS QuiltWeek dates are April 18 – 21, 2018. This years juror, Arturo Alonzo Sandoval, is a fiber artist whose experimental techniques and expressive interpretations have earned him an international reputation. Arturo is one of Kentucky’s most original, influential and significant artists. His work is in the collections of the New York City Museum of Modern Art’s Architecture and Design Collection, as well as galleries and private collections throughout the United States and the world

Fiber Celebration 2018,” Northern Colorado Weaver’s Guild

Greeley, CO: May 4–June 16, 2018

Northern Colorado Weavers Guild invites all fiber artists to participate in our 44th annual juried exhibit Fiber Celebration 2018. We appreciate all past participants and hope you will enter again. We also encourage submissions from new entrants! Pieces representing fiber media of all types are welcome, including weaving, spinning, dyeing, basketry, sculpture, felting, papermaking, knitting, crocheting, and embroidery.
