Fiber As Metaphor

The Española Valley Fiber Arts Center is sponsoring the New Mexico Fiber Crawl, a three-day fiber event featuring fiber artists and craftspeople, galleries and museums, farms, and shops. The event will be held May 17-19, 2019, at participating sites in northern New Mexico.

This call for artists is for an invitational and juried show organized in collaboration with, and held at, galleryFRITZ, 540 S. Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, NM, https// The exhibit will open on May 17 at 5:00 pm with a public reception. This opening will also be the kick-off party for the Fiber Crawl in Santa Fe. The exhibit will close on May 31.

The exhibit, titled Fiber as Metaphor, will showcase the best in fiber work from around the country and will reflect the theme of metaphor.

19th ArtWear Biennial: Where Fashion Meets Art

Lincoln Center, Fort Collins, CO:    October 18-26, 2019

The City of Fort Collins, Colorado, Lincoln Center is seeking designers of one-of-a-kind wearable art garments and accessories (no jewelry, please) for the 19th ArtWear Biennial. The ArtWear Biennial is dedicated to highlighting the work of wearable art artists. The week-long event includes a fully staged fashion show, sales gallery and other fiber art and wearable art programs and workshops throughout the week of October 18-26, 2019. Wearable art in all media and styles are welcome, including garments, ensembles, hats and handbags. Garments for both men and women are encouraged. Individuals or collaborative teams will be considered. Our goal is to present innovative and wearable work of the highest quality and provide a forum to share our enthusiasm for an exploration of techniques and materials.

37th Annual New Legacies: Contemporary Art Quilts

Fort Collins, CO:    July 20 – September 21, 2019

This juried exhibition features the current work of the finest national and international contemporary quilt artists, July 20 – September 21, 2019. Art quilts accepted for exhibition will exemplify innovation in quilting and surface design techniques as well as excellence in artistic composition and craftsmanship. The goal of the exhibition is to recognize the world’s finest contemporary quilt artists and to advance the art form.
