“Monochrome,” Manifest Gallery

Cincinnati, OH:  August 18 – September 15, 2017

Sometimes you can say more by saying less. Many artists find that the intentional reduction of visual information actually increases a work of art’s impact. One such reduction is the use of color, creating engaging art through the use of a single hue. Manifest Creative Research Gallery is proud to announce the final exhibition call of our 13th season with the exhibit Monochrome.
MONOCHROME is open to everyone. Professionals as well as students are encouraged to enter. The only limitation is that entries must represent original works of art or design and address the theme of ‘monochrome’ in some way. The ‘chroma’ that is ‘mono’ is, of course, up to each artist. The color need not be the primary content of the work of art. The limited pallet must simply be a factor in the realization of the work, whatever form it may take. Manifest is open to artists’ interpretation of the exact definition of ‘monochrome’.

Out of the shadow of the forest into the margin of the meadow emerges a coyote, or a deer. Moving from trees to water, a kingfisher plies its trade. There are many edges to nature and creatures that inhabit them. People too are attracted to these edges, whether for adventure, creativity, or escape.

Does stepping away from civilization move you out of your comfort zone, or into it?
