“Wild West: 21st Century Quilts Salute the American Frontier,” Texas Quilt Museum

LaGrange, CA:  June 2017 – June 2021 (Traveling exhibit)

Entries must be quilts that relate to the theme of Wild West. Quilters have long used western-themed quilts to show their appreciation for all things western. Cowboys, cowgirls, Native Americans, horses, cows, other animals, rodeos, ranches, farm machinery, ranch hands, the Pony Express, railroads, Old West maps, panning for gold, mining, frontier architecture, square dances, and western movies are only some of the subjects that come to mind when thinking of the Wild West. Any techniques and processes—piecing, appliqué, embroidery, thread painting, photo transfer, printing, whole cloth and/or manipulated fabric, etc. —may be used as long as they are appropriate for the quilt and the theme. We welcome both classic and innovative approaches to quilt making in this competition.

Deadline:  March 1, 2017
