Ann Arbor, MI: March 22 – April 24, 2015
This exhibition will illustrate physical, cultural, conceptual, and psychological borderlands. What are the effects of a physical or conceptual boundary on our perceptions of reality? What does it mean to occupy a borderland between cultures or identities? What are some of our moral borders, those regions into which we must delve in order to live ethically sound lives? How do we approach significant thresholds in our own lives? What forms of non-human entities—from quarks to galaxies—occupy borderlands, why do they exist there and not at some other more stable place?
