“Patchwork Design 2016,” Rio de Janeiro and beyond

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil:  November 2015 – Fall 2016

Zeca Madeiros is expanding his support of art quilts from the Patchwork Design Show in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo to venues catering to art collectors. Interest in fiber arts is blossoming in South America, and we have an opportunity to be at the forefront. He is arranging opportunities for display and sales in a number of Brazilian cities and in Argentina and Chile.

Zeca is looking for approximately 30 quilts from 20 quilters. Zeca hopes that most submitted quilts will be for sale. Artists should set the price on entries based on what you want to receive, and he believes that quilts with artist prices between $1000 and $4000 have the best chance of selling. Keep in mind when setting the price for your work that this is a developing market.

Quilts will be gone from November 2015 to Fall 2016 to accommodate the new venues. Shipping fees to Brazil will be $55 per quilt. All other shipping is paid by Patchwork Design. As per previous shows, one quilter will be chosen to attend the Patchwork Design Show in 2017. Zeca will choose quilts from those submitted, and may also ask people from previous shows to send their quilts again.

There are no size or age limits on the quilts. Please, no frames or 3-D because of shipping issues. Quilts may be lovingly folded during their return shipping.

Entries are due by September 14, quilts at the November meeting.

Must be a CQA member to enter.

“Mythology,” Confluence Gallery

Twisp, WA:    October 10 – November 13, 2015

Throughout the centuries, myths have provided such compelling stories for art work. An artist’s representation provides a concrete mental picture of a myth or mythological character, a legend.

For this exhibit, we are asking artists to respond to “Mythology” through your art, not necessarily depicting one specific time or culture. Yet, with your art submission we ask that you give the mythological reference (as the title of the piece or in your statement).
